Verizon taking BlackBerry Tour pre-orders

Well it looks like the BlackBerry Tour on Verizon is finally a reality. Rumors have already told us to expect the BlackBerry Tour on July 12, but now Verizon has confirmed the rumors.

BlackBerry saves British skier's life

A British skier's life was literally saved by his BlackBerry. David Fitzherbert was skiing in the Matterhorn and Monterosa peaks in Switzerland when the snow beneath him gave way and fell 70 feet into a crevasse.
"The snow gave way beneath me and I fell down a very deep crevasse. After 70 feet it narrowed and I became stuck like a cork in a bottle between the walls. Fortunately the extra inches of the Blackberry were enough to block the fall."

Verizon to offer BlackBerry Tour July 12

Rumor has it that the BlackBerry Tour will hit Verizon on July 12. Leave it to BGR to get the scoop. According to BGR the BlackBerry Tour will launch with a price of $199. You'll have to sign a two-year agreement to get the $199 price but that's standard these days.

Although not officially acknowledged by Sprint, rumor has it that the BlackBerry Tour 9630 will be available from Sprint on July 20. Until now the only word we've heard is that the Tour would be released "later this summer." The July 20 date is the first hard date we've been given.
Verizon is set to launch the BlackBerry Tour on July 12. By the end of July all you BlackBerry fans should be able to grab the latest CDMA offering, unless you've already grabbed a Palm Pre first....read more

UberTwitter, the popular free Twitter client has been updated. The latest update features a new user interface along with bug fixes and new features.

Chinese BlackBerry clone called BlockBerry

This seems a little close for comfort and would never be tolerated in the US. The Chinese BB clone called the BlockBerry shows up in this ad featuring Barack Obama. In Chinese it reads "Obama have BlackBerry, I have BlockBerry.”
The BlockBerry device is actually a Windows Mobile 6.1 device with a 3.2-inch touchscreen, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, and supports 3G and EDGE.

The BlackBerry Tour is finally getting its official on. Verizon has unveiled a teaser page for the new BlackBerry (check the link below). There's not a lot of information on the page, but you can see an official picture and sign up for a newsletter.
Sprint has also signaled they will offer the BB Tour 9630. Sprint will offer $150 in rebates which will bring the price to $199, with a two-year contract. Expect Sprint's version to be released sometime later this summer....read more
